The Slidell Ladies for Liberty Story

The story of Slidell Ladies for Liberty began in 2007 with a group of nine PTA moms whose children had shared many years in school. Having worked together on many projects across the years their desire to help and serve extended beyond their childrens’ graduation days. One of these moms was sending care packages to her son-in-law and learned of additional soldiers who weren’t receiving anything from home. When asked if they could write to these soldiers they decided to do better. The ladies came together and began sending care packages that could be shared with more troops. They purchased items to send and paid for postage from their own funds and packed the boxes in their homes. From their efforts the Slidell Ladies for Liberty was born.
In the 16 years since those first packages were sent, the organization has grown from the generous hearts of these nine PTA moms to a community wide effort. Our membership now consists of over 100 men and women who have to date sent over 26,000 packages all over the world.
The Slidell Ladies for Liberty are blessed to be supported by Slidell area individuals, businesses, schools, churches, and community civic organizations who donate items to send and monetary funds for postage expenses. Without the support of this community, we could not continue our efforts to send “We Care” packages to our deployed military men and women.
What We Do

Slidell Ladies for Liberty is a completely non-profit organization. It is comprised solely of volunteers and operates on donations received. We send “We Care” packages to deployed Military Men and Women, all of whom have some connection to the Slidell, Louisiana area.
All items sent are donated by the Slidell community and every dollar spent for postage is generously donated. Slidell-area individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, are the reason we can continue to support our troops.
We meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month to sort donations and fill and ship boxes. We send both snack and toiletry items which our soldiers share with their fellow soldiers.
